Todd Siebert, chairman of the Finance Committee, said the committee discussed a requested $50,000 increase to the city’s annual fleet maintenance appropriation to cover an unanticipated major repair.
City staff said council had authorized $425,000 for the annual fleet maintenance contract at the start of the year and that the city experienced an extraordinary repair on a utility bucket/back truck costing approximately $50,000. Staff said the city is on track with current spending but requested a $50,000 increase to avoid exhausting maintenance funds before year end. “We did have an extraordinary repair of our utility back truck of approximately 50,000,” Bridal said.
Staff said this item was not being advanced as an emergency. Committee members signaled support: Council member Schilling said, “I think we need to move forward on that,” and the committee issued a unanimous recommendation to move the non-emergency ordinance forward to council.
Action taken: the Finance Committee issued a unanimous recommendation to proceed with a non-emergency ordinance to increase the fleet maintenance funding by $50,000; final council approval is required to adjust the budget.
