The change was described to the committee by Brooke Dupree, budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, as a drafting error in which “the letter b was dropped” and the corrected language ensures the provision points to the intended code section.
The committee first sought unanimous consent to adopt the correction, but Senator Wintrow objected. A formal motion to accept the language as shown on the screen was then made and seconded; the motion passed. The combined roll calls produced 18 ayes, 2 nays, 0 abstentions, and 0 excused absences across the two chambers. The chair announced the motion will carry a due‑pass recommendation.
The committee did not debate policy changes to the program; the item as presented was a narrowly focused drafting correction. Dupree remained available for questions during the item and offered no additional changes beyond restoring the subsection reference.
