The Huntersville Town Board on Oct. 21 approved a purchase agreement and a corresponding budget amendment to acquire three adjoining lots at 200, 202 and 204 Third Street for $421,200. Town staff said the parcels will provide right‑of‑way and staging area to complete a planned Walter Street extension identified in the town’s CIP.
Why it matters - Acquiring those properties completes a contiguous corridor the town needs for the Walter Street extension and provides site space for construction easements and equipment staging.
Votes and next steps - The board approved the purchase agreement and then unanimously approved a budget amendment to appropriate $421,200 from the general fund for the acquisition. Staff will complete closing paperwork and update the CIP as needed.
Speakers - Mr. Williams (staff) presented the purchase proposal and rationale to the board.
