The presenter said a competing contractor would likely face landfill-haul costs if they do not have a nearby lined landfill, and that GFL (a nearby operator) has a local landfill that affects competitive dynamics.
On the prospect of lower rates for residents, staff said the “likelihood of this decreasing the price that the Alexander City residents are paying is 0.” Staff distributed draft documents and said the first draft of the solicitation was about 90% complete and copies were available for council review.
