Board committee awards grease‑trap cleaning contract to EnviroChoice Recycling LLC

The auxiliary services committee of the Cumberland County Board of Education approved the 2025–2026 bid award for grease‑trap cleaning services to EnviroChoice Recycling LLC on Oct. 7.
Beth Maynard, who presented the item, said the district pursued a formal bidding process because prior annual costs neared the formal purchasing threshold and price increases pushed the expected annual cost over that threshold. “EnviroChoice recycling came in as the low bidder. We have worked with Envirochoice in the past, and they’ve done a very good job,” Maynard said.
Maynard explained the function of a grease trap for the board: “It works the same way as a septic tank. It keeps all the greases and cooking oils out of the sewer system,” she said. The committee moved and seconded the award and approved it in committee.
No dollar total for the contract term was recorded in the committee discussion beyond the statement that the district calculated an average cost per 1,000‑gallon tank for bid comparison. The contract award will be administered by the district’s operations/procurement staff, which will monitor vendor performance under the terms of the bid.
The committee recorded the award by motion and second; staff said the vendor had been responsive when previously called to address missed work.
The board will finalize the award in accordance with procurement procedures and monitor performance under the contract.
