Paulding County reports record 91.6% graduation rate; SAT and AP participation rise

Superintendent Barnett told the Paulding County School Board on Oct. 7 that the district reached “the highest graduation rate in our history, 91.6 percent.”
The data presentation highlighted both overall gains and improvements across student subgroups, and district staff said the results accompany higher SAT scores and more Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken. Dr. Tiffany Frazier presented subgroup and academic-performance details, saying the district’s economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities and English learners outperformed state averages in on‑time graduation.
The presentation described year‑over‑year increases in SAT performance and AP participation. Frazier said the district has increased SAT scores by about 20 points over two years and ranks fifth among large metro districts in the state on SAT results. She also said AP exam participation rose from under 900 exams to more than 1,700 and that the district simultaneously increased the share of exams scoring 3–5. The presentation noted 1,701 AP exams taken and, as reported to the board, 271 college credits earned last year as an outcome of AP participation.
Board members offered congratulations during remarks after the presentation. Board member Chester called the progress “a proud moment” and praised administrators and teachers for the district’s performance.
The superintendent and staff said they will continue to analyze the metrics behind the graduation rate, including subgroup outcomes and college-readiness measures, and report further detail in coming meetings.
