A county staff member read two bids aloud. "This is from Carlos Asphalt of Everett, PA," the staff member said, then reported, "So the total bid is 1,098,800." The staff member also read a second bid from "the unique construction of Langetown, PA" with a "Total bid is $1,222,006.45." The staff member said they would "review all their bid to bidding documents, and I will make a recommendation in the next couple of days."
The commission voted to refer the bids to staff for review and to return a recommendation. Commissioners approved the Sept. 9 minutes earlier in the meeting; both motions were carried on recorded "Aye" votes. The meeting record notes one commissioner was absent due to illness.
Present at the meeting were Commissioner Styles and Commissioner Wendy; Commissioner Bloch was noted as absent because she was "out sick," according to the meeting record. No public comments were recorded at the meeting.
County staff said they will review the bids and the accompanying bid bonds and signed agreements, then provide a recommendation to the board in the coming days. The commission did not announce a date for further action on the bids at the meeting.
The meeting concluded after the board adjourned following the staff referral vote.
