Broken Arrow City Council on Oct. 7 approved two contract awards for city facilities. Shannon Marshall, special projects division manager in engineering and construction, presented both items and recommended awarding the lowest responsible bids.
Myers Cherry Construction LLC was reported as the lowest responsible bidder for the interior renovation of the Streets & Stormwater building adjacent to the Justice Center. The bid, including alternates and allowances, was reported as $2,347,500. Marshall said alternate 1 is a covered canopy ($65,000), alternate 2 is a $40,000 contingency, and alternate 3 is an $18,500 allowance for building signage. The renovated space will house administrations for utilities and streets and stormwater, parts of community development (neighborhood engagement and inspections), an IT GIS group and emergency management functions.
Builders Unlimited submitted the lowest responsible bid for the Parks Maintenance Building interior build-out at $308,294, which includes a $20,000 contingency allowance. The Parks item is a follow-on interior build-out to a shell and site work contract for events park and the amphitheater. Council moved and seconded both awards; roll call votes were taken and staff recommended the awards.
Contract documents and schedules will be finalized by staff before work begins.
