Williamston board pulls curriculum policy 7350 for fuller review after extended debate on book-list approvals

District administrators told the board they are moving toward a more systematic adoption process so choices are reviewed at building and curriculum levels before reaching the board. Administration framed the change as an attempt to provide principals and teachers with clear steps while giving the board oversight for materials that may be controversial or legally sensitive.
After extended discussion, the board agreed to postpone the vote and return Policy 7350 to the November agenda for a full board discussion and possible rewording to clarify thresholds and approval steps.
The board did not adopt the policy language at this meeting; members instructed administration to bring a clear matrix or flowchart for review in November.
