Board of Adjustment chair reports three approvals in year; commission accepts update

The City Commission accepted the Board of Adjustment’s annual update on Oct. 6 after Chair Cherry and Development Services Director Lucia Panaca outlined the board’s recent activity.
Cherry said the board met three times over the past year; each application before the quasi-judicial panel was approved. Panaca noted the board is fully staffed for the first time in some years and that site visits are coordinated by staff when required. Commissioners asked whether the board had identified recurring zoning text amendment opportunities; members reported no persistent recurring appeals presently requiring a text change, though staff said it monitors patterns and will flag recurrent variances for potential zoning-code amendments.
The commission acknowledged the board’s service and accepted the report by consensus.
