Council creates standing committee to review U.S. military static-display donations

Bullhead City Council on Oct. 7 approved a standing committee comprising the mayor, vice mayor, city manager and public works director to review and decide whether to apply for items offered through the U.S. military static display program. The council approved the measure 7–0.
City staff said the military formerly operated a list-based offer process — under which the city received a howitzer and, more recently, two jeeps — and that the program is changing to a competitive web-based application. The new committee will vet available items and decide whether to submit applications; any item granted to the city would still require formal council acceptance before the city takes possession.
City Manager presented the rationale, saying the committee will streamline decisions and avoid bringing every potential offer to council when timetables are short. A member of the public, Sean Reinbullet, spoke in support and volunteered to participate in the effort.
The committee was authorized to act on behalf of the city for application purposes; final acceptance of any donated item must return to council for approval.
