Aransas Pass — The Aransas Pass City Council approved a resolution accepting a petition and adopted an ordinance to disannex property commonly known as 520 Jacoby Lane, removing the parcel from city limits effective the date of the ordinance.
The council opened a public hearing and heard staff history: the parcel was voluntarily annexed by a prior action in 2019 but was later left isolated when surrounding property was disannexed through court proceedings, the city’s presenter said. The property has changed ownership since and city staff reported the city has not extended services to the location nor collected city taxes on the parcel.
A motion to accept the disannexation petition and a subsequent motion to adopt the ordinance each passed after a second; the transcript records the motions, seconds and the chair’s announcement, “Motion carries.” The resolution and ordinance describe the property as Lot 33, Block 216, Burton and Danforth Subdivision, Aransas County, property ID 14318, according to the plat recorded in volume 1, pages 62–63.
Why it matters: City staff said disannexing the property will “clean the slate” and will not impose additional costs on the city since no city services were being provided. The action updates the official city boundary and instructs filing and map corrections required by ordinance.
Details recorded in the meeting: The resolution and the ordinance include the legal description above and provide standard severability and cumulative clauses. The ordinance’s effective date was announced in the meeting as the date of adoption.
