The City Commission unanimously appointed Danny Preston Oct. 6 to the Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency advisory board to fill a vacancy created by a resignation.
Wayne Appleby, economic development manager and staff to the Newtown CRA, briefed commissioners that two applicants were qualified and that another vacancy will arise in December. Commissioner Ulrich nominated Preston and the motion passed by unanimous vote. Commissioners asked staff to keep the other applicant’s application on file and to encourage additional applications if the December vacancy is not filled.
