Auburn council postpones Greenwood Village rezoning and Hickory Creek annexation to Oct. 21

"I would like to move to postpone to a date certain of October 21," said Ms. Witten during the discussion. The motion carried after a second and a voice vote.
The Greenwood Village items include a pre‑zoning request to apply a development district housing (DDH) base zone and a plan development district (PDD) overlay for about 53.5 acres on West Farmville Road between Pepperwood Trail and Auburn Lakes Road. Council members denied unanimous consent on both the DDH pre‑zoning and the PDD overlay, meaning the items will return with a public hearing at the Oct. 21 meeting.
Council also postponed the Hickory Creek annexation, roughly 68.5 acres on the south side of Sand Hill Road across from the Mill Creek Road intersection. A council member explained the annexation was originally put before the Council sooner than the companion zoning items because of Planning Commission timing; the postponement brings the annexation and rezoning items back to Council together on Oct. 21.
City staff and at least one council member said they will try to schedule a work session to discuss Farmville‑area planning before the Oct. 21 meeting. "I think Monday the 13th would be a good date for the meeting," the city manager said; council members agreed to coordinate availability.
The postponements were cast as procedural and alignment decisions rather than rejections of the projects. No votes against the postponements were recorded during the voice votes, and the items were continued to the Oct. 21 agenda for full public hearing and Council consideration.
Looking ahead, the Council will consider public hearings and final votes on the Greenwood Village rezoning and related annexation at the Oct. 21 meeting; staff and council members indicated more discussion and review of the Farmville area plan will occur before final action.
