DDA public hearing: the council set a public hearing for Nov. 17, 2025, on a proposed amendment to the DDA plan that staff said would extend the DDA term into 2055. "We will be asking for the extension of the DDA into 2055," Director Garza said. Council members asked that a study session be scheduled after the plan is posted so the public and council could review details.
Appointments: the council confirmed three appointments — reemploying Sam Duraney to the planning commission for a three‑year term to expire Oct. 6, 2028; appointing Gary Chappelle to the Westland Public Library Board to fill an unexpired term through Aug. 7, 2027; and appointing Jack Ray to the Downtown Development Authority to fill an unexpired term through Oct. 1, 2027.
