Brownsville hears draft Parks, Health and Recreation Master Plan; adoption targeted after December review

Stantec consultants presented a draft Parks, Health and Recreation Master Plan to the Brownsville City Commission on Oct. 7, outlining recommendations grounded in more than 5,000 public engagement touchpoints and nearly 1,500 survey responses.
The plan, Stantec design director Brad Cowan said, is intended as “a clear roadmap on how Brownsville Parks recreation system can better serve the residents and improve health,” and it was developed using five assessment lenses — standards, demand, access, equity and resources — to identify gaps across roughly 46 city parks, 47 miles of trails and more than 50 programs.
