A Wakulla County resident told commissioners she and neighbors were seeking help to address a neighboring property she described as a junkyard and a possible public‑safety concern.
Loretta Compton, speaking during Citizens to be Heard, said the property had accumulated debris, that occupants lacked power and water and that neighbors had reported the site multiple times. "I scanned these pictures today... the last time property taxes were paid was in '22," Compton said. She said the situation included noise at night and concerns for safety.
Staff asked Compton to file a complaint card and provided follow-up contact details. Summer (staff) said the county had received prior complaints and that the property may already have a lien. "When we visit a site for a code enforcement complaint, anything that we can observe from the right of way, we will cite," Summer said, adding she would follow up with the resident the next day.
The county did not take further action during the meeting; staff committed to follow up with the resident and to pursue the code-enforcement process where possible.
