Village of Beecher auditors issue clean opinion for fiscal 2024–25; board accepts audit

Jennifer Doss, a certified public accountant with the firm that performed the Village of Beecher audit, presented the fiscal 2024–25 financial statements and told the board the auditors issued an unmodified opinion for the year ended April 30, 2025.
Doss summarized key figures from the report: governmental activities showed an increase in net position of $799,796, which she said was about $500,000 less than the prior year’s increase; she attributed year-to-year differences in part to ARPA recognition in the prior year and grant revenue timing. She reported an unassigned general fund balance of $1,254,523 at Sept. 30 and said the village’s overall financial position remained healthy from a reserve standpoint.
Doss also reported that business-type activities (water, sewer and refuse) showed an increase in net position of $111,296, and that operating revenues for those enterprise funds rose by about $260,000 while operating expenses rose about $250,000. She noted transfers between funds changed direction from the prior year, which affected year-to-year comparisons.
After the presentation, a trustee moved to accept the fiscal year 2024–25 audit. The board approved the motion by roll call; responses recorded in the meeting transcript indicate affirmative votes from trustees participating in the roll call.
The auditor thanked village staff for their cooperation during the audit. The board took no additional action beyond accepting the audit at the Oct. 14 meeting.
