The Pleasant View Planning Commission voted unanimously Oct. 2 to approve a conditional‑use permit for an event venue at 1587 West 2740 North, a unit in an MP‑1 (planned manufacturing) complex, with conditions from the city building official.
Tammy, a city planner, told commissioners the proposed venue would occupy approximately 10,000 square feet of an existing warehouse and that parking was a shared, cross‑parking arrangement with other businesses in the complex. She said the building official had requested fire and life‑safety plans prepared by a licensed design professional, tenant‑improvement building permits and an occupancy‑load calculation before final DRC approval.
The petitioner, Janine Stein, told the commission the venue would operate mainly after traditional business hours and that she expected typical events to be “probably gonna try to stick around the hundreds” of attendees for larger events. “Most of them will probably be gone by the time these groups come,” she said, referring to other businesses in the complex and shared parking availability.
Commissioners opened a public hearing; no members of the public spoke. Commissioner David moved to approve the conditional‑use permit with the building‑official conditions; the motion was seconded by Commissioner John and passed unanimously. Tammy noted that final approval of signage, tenant improvements and occupancy would proceed through the city’s Development Review Committee and permitting process.
The commission’s approval was conditioned on the petitioner meeting the building official’s requirements for fire/life‑safety design, building permits for tenant improvements and an approved occupancy load calculation prior to final administrative sign‑off.
The venue address was confirmed by commissioners during the meeting as 1587 West 2740 North in the industrial complex that shares parking and access drives.
