Kaysville City presented a proclamation Thursday recognizing Beckham Dixon, a Kaysville resident and Davis Tech plumbing student, for winning the national SkillsUSA championship in plumbing.
Bryce Chapman, representing Davis Tech’s plumbing program, introduced Dixon and described the SkillsUSA competition format. Chapman said Dixon competed in Atlanta against students from other states in a multi‑hour, task‑based contest that included cast‑iron rough‑in, PVC wall drainage, a wall‑hung lavatory and other wiring and plumbing challenges. Dixon told the council he had trained under instructors Bryce Chapman and Craig Randall and said he hoped to compete again.
City Manager Jason read a proclamation on behalf of the mayor and council that recognized Dixon’s state and national wins, noted that he competed against other state champions in Atlanta, and congratulated him for bringing recognition to his school and community. Dixon posed for photos with council members and Davis Tech representatives.
Council members and Davis Tech trustees praised the school’s programs and the student’s achievements. No council action was required or taken.
