Kaysville City swore in its 2025–26 Youth City Council Thursday and introduced students who will participate in civic and service activities over the coming year.
City staff and Council Member Abby Hunt led the swearing‑in for the youth leaders, naming Bodhi Shimmer as mayor of the youth council and listing students including Natalie Barlow, McKay Clemens, Lucy Ellis, Macy West, Jason Hayes, Ty Williams and others. Linda, the city youth council advisor, said the program has operated about 10 years and focuses on service and civic education.
Linda described recurring program activities: attending a day at the state legislature, participating in the League of Cities and Towns events, mock debates with neighboring youth councils, and service projects tied to parks and recreation such as a scarecrow for the community “Scarecrow Walk,” support for the Fable Forest food‑donation event, and the Kaysville Gives program.
Students were sworn in, reciting an oath to defend the U.S. and Utah constitutions and to discharge their duties with fidelity; leaders remained onstage afterward for photos.
The council thanked families and noted student participation in upcoming local events, including a candidate night where many youth council leaders will attend.
