Nash County Public Schools: 74% of schools earn A–C; 12 exceed growth in 2024–25

Dr. Timothy Mudd, executive director of accountability research and innovation for Nash County Public Schools, told meeting attendees that the district posted its strongest performance to date in the 2024–25 school year.

"We are proud to share that our students and staff reach new heights in the 2024–25 school year," Mudd said. He described the state's school performance grade (SPG) system and summarized the district's results.

The SPG, Mudd said, is assigned on an A through F scale and is calculated from two components: about 80% on accountability or achievement measures (including EOG and EOC scores) and about 20% on growth. For the 2024–25 school year, 74% of Nash County Public Schools earned an A, B or C grade, which Mudd said is the highest percentage in district history.

Mudd identified Nash Early College High School as an A school and named City High, Nash Central High and Cooper's Elementary as B schools. He also reported that 12 district schools "exceeded growth and ranked in the top 20% of all schools in the state," and said several schools were in the state's top 10% for growth, including Nash Central High, Nash Early College, Nashville Elementary, Cooper's Elementary, Southern Nash High and Englewood Elementary.

Those results, Mudd said, reflect "the hard work of our students and staff and our families." He encouraged members of the public to visit the district website for more information about the results and the schools.
