The Bangor City Finance Committee on Oct. 6 recommended awarding the Alert Building No. 610 demolition and hazardous materials abatement contract to Lakeside Concrete Cutting and Abatement.
Staff recapped that the original bid included two disposal options pending secondary water testing; after consultation with the city’s environmental professional the RFP was refined to a single disposal option and rebid on Sept. 17. The same three bidders attended the rebid opening and Lakeside was the low bidder. The project budget was $856,250 and Lakeside’s rebid was reported at $555,600 (transcript fragment). The property is intended for future commercial warehousing use.
Committee members asked procedural questions and staff confirmed the rebid scope and recommendation. A motion to recommend awarding the contract to Lakeside was moved and seconded and advanced without recorded objection. Final award will follow the city’s contracting procedures and any environmental disposal requirements.
Staff said the rebid narrowed scope to a single disposal option based on environmental testing and consultant advice; the committee’s recommendation reflects that narrower scope.
