Pharr commission approves easement closures, event-permit changes, surplus declaration and interlocal for animal shelter

Pharr — At a regular meeting of the Pharr City Commission, commissioners approved a slate of ordinances and resolutions on first reading and by resolution, including two utility-easement abandonments, administrative changes to event permitting, a surplus declaration, participation in a cooperative purchasing program, and an interlocal agreement for animal-shelter services.

The actions, taken without extended discussion, were approved by voice vote. The commission also designated a poet laureate and approved routine consent-agenda items. Several items were recorded as first readings, meaning further action will return to the commission for final adoption if required.
