Committee recommends awarding bid to remove derelict Parks & Rec farm building

Staff reported receiving 12 proposals ranging from roughly $50,010 to about $134,750; the recommendation was to award to DMNJ Waste Management at $50,005.97, the low bidder. The Parks and Recreation director (identified in the meeting as Chris O'Leb) confirmed that DMNJ has performed similar demolition work for the city and that engineering staff had conducted a walkthrough.
Committee members asked for clarification about the contractor’s experience; staff answered that the vendor had done similar projects and project management for the city. The committee noted the project had a budget of $100,000 and that the low bid was substantially below that amount. A motion to recommend awarding the contract to DMNJ Waste Management was moved and seconded and recorded without objection in the committee discussion.
The recommendation will follow the city’s procurement and contracting procedures for final award.
