Wyoming council approves grants, park design, IT purchases and sewer repairs; multiple motions pass unanimously

The Wyoming City Council on Oct. 6 approved a package of resolutions and contract actions covering public-safety equipment, park design, IT services and wastewater repairs.

Council members voted to approve amended bylaws for the Wyoming Tree Commission; accept a Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant to fund fitness equipment and a wellness program for the fire department; purchase two sets of vehicular extrication equipment; contract for design and bid documents for phase 1 of Marquette Park; authorize IT change notice work and short-term IT staff augmentation; approve purchase and future purchases of Cradlepoint routers; approve a replacement transaction drawer and audio system for the treasurer’s drive-through window; buy a new graphics printer/cutter and two trailer-mounted arrow boards; and accept proposals and award a coating contract related to wastewater treatment plant and sewer inspections and repairs.

FEMA firefighter grant: John (staff member) said the Assistance to Firefighters Grant would cover 90% of the cost of new fitness equipment for four stations and establishment of a wellness and injury-prevention program, with a 10% city match. "This is a grant that would cover 90% of the cost of new fitness equipment for the 4 fire stations," he said. The council approved acceptance of the grant by roll call.
