The committee approved a substitute resolution authorizing sale of city tax‑deed property at 1515 North Twelfth Street in the Fifteenth Aldermanic District to New View / New Life, the Department of City Development said on Oct. 7.
Rosita Ross of DCD presented the land disposition report. The parcel is approximately 7,000 square feet, zoned LB2 (local business), was acquired by the city in April 2022, and has a proposed purchase price of $5,600. DCD said the planned development budget is about $12 million and noted the purchasers (named in the presentation as Jody Rhodes and Joanne Harris) have been fundraising for several years.
Aldermen voiced support and the file was moved with a substitute; a committee member thanked the local nonprofit for its community work and supported moving the file forward. The transcript records the substitute being introduced and adoption without objection in committee.
The Department presented the land disposition report and indicated the local alder supports the sale; committee action on the substitute was recorded with no objection stated during the meeting’s discussion.
