The CRA advisory board unanimously approved a storm mitigation and resiliency grant of up to $15,000 to Crooked Halos, a downtown Dean Street business, to help fund a $20,000 project to install storm‑mitigation measures.
Hilton Terry, CRA director, said the applicant submitted two proposals and opted for a $15,000 scope; additional studies are required before installation. Because the applicant is a tenant, staff confirmed the tenant must obtain owner permission for any installation, and that installed devices would become fixtures attached to the property with owner agreement.
The board voted to recommend approval; Vice Chair Holloway made the motion and Commissioner Bartholomew seconded. The board noted other properties across the street are preparing applications for similar mitigation assistance, and staff said at least one public meeting had previously attracted about 75 attendees for related corridor resilience outreach.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the CRA Board of Commissioners for final action.
