Chantay Lessard, representing the Hudbay Mason Project, told the Lyon County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 2 that the project will begin environmental field work and construction activities this year and into early 2026.
Lessard said seep and spring studies will start within weeks, earthworks are planned for November, and drilling is expected to begin in January. She said the company planned to request a future time on the commission agenda for a more detailed presentation and asked commissioners to expect constituent contacts when work begins.
The board took the announcement as a notice-to-county type presentation; no formal action or permit decision was taken at the meeting.
