Haley, organizer of Second Saturdays, asked the Englewood Cultural Arts Commission on Thursday for $1,000 to support a standalone website and an interactive map for the monthly event that highlights local galleries, studios and creative businesses.
Haley told commissioners the volunteer-led promotion has received support from the Downtown Development Authority and media coverage including Colorado Public Radio and local arts outlets. She said the group currently hosts event listings on a page provided pro bono by Easel (EASL) but wants an independent site to avoid confusion that any single business “owns” the program.
The request was for roughly $1,000, Haley said, with a 5-year web-hosting option priced at about $583.50 and the remainder to cover design, monthly maintenance and an interactive map that would link directly to participating businesses. Haley said the site designer has offered to donate time and that the group will provide receipts.
Commissioners asked practical questions about traffic, governance and duration. Lucia, a CAC staff member, confirmed the commission could request additional information and place the item back on a future agenda. Commissioners asked if the City’s Cultural Arts web pages could be linked from the new site; Haley said the proposed design would include partner links for the CAC and the DDA.
Haley said roughly 30 businesses are enrolled in Second Saturdays, with 15 to 20 hosting events in a typical month. Nicole Corby of N Collective was named as a co‑founder of the volunteer effort. Haley said the group does not have memoranda of understanding or formal bylaws among partners and acknowledged she would provide receipts and additional details if the commission chose to fund the project.
No formal vote was taken. Commissioners discussed options for partial funding, one‑year hosting or matching grants; the commission asked staff to add the funding request to the November agenda so members can review additional information before deciding.
Haley said the group hopes to have the new site live for the 2026 season and that she could accept a November decision on funding.
For now, the commission recorded the request, asked for supplemental traffic data and receipts, and scheduled the item for follow-up in November.
