Committee approves design cost‑share for Main Street pavement repairs with WISDOT

The Improvement and Services Committee on Oct. 1 approved entering into a state‑municipal financial agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for design work on a section of Main Street, authorizing the director to execute the agreement.
Assistant Director described the project as pavement repair (mill and pave) on Main Street from Lancôme to Manitowoc Road. He said estimated engineering costs are $258,000, with the state covering $193,500 and the city responsible for $64,500 (a roughly 75/25 split). Construction was estimated at about $1.9 million in the packet, with the state covering construction costs at 100 percent.
Committee members moved and seconded approval; the motion passed on a voice vote. One member noted that these agreements are advantageous because the state typically funds the construction portion, leaving the city responsible only for a smaller design share.
As with other DOT items, the assistant director said the director will sign the agreement and the item will go to full council for final approval.
