Port Authority hears update on riverfront improvements; staff expect lane openings within weeks

A board member asked, “On in new business, what kind of progress are we having on the riverfront improvement?” Robert Gunter, Port Authority finance staff, reported on a staff meeting held that morning and said staff expect the northbound lanes will be open in “a couple weeks.” He said the project team plans to operate one lane northbound and one lane southbound to permit two-way traffic while work continues, and that the southbound lane still requires a pipe replacement but is planned to be open by the end of the month or by year-end.
Chair (unnamed) and other board members referenced a brochure and prior presentation by Miss Diedrich. The chair said Miss Diedrich “came in and addressed and talked to us about that” and that she will hold an upcoming meeting outlining the riverfront plan of action. The chair said she will forward the meeting date to board members through Sheila, who was asked to circulate the notice.
A board member said they were pleased after reading the brochure. No formal action, motion, or funding decision on the riverfront work was taken at this meeting; the discussion was an informational update and a notice that the Port Authority will be included in forthcoming meetings on the project.
