Parks committee recommends $225,000 hire for electrical and gas service to serve JBS subdivision and park

The Green Bay Parks Committee on Oct. 1 voted to recommend the Common Council approve hiring Wisconsin Public Service to install electrical and gas service for the JBS subdivision and park for a total cost of $225,000, a committee member said.
Parks Director said the work will bring electric service for the entire subdivision, the new park, the sewer pump, and street lighting; the quoted $225,000 covers bringing in four separate electric services plus the gas line needed for park facilities. The director said the city has allocated funding for the work from tax incremental financing (TIF).
Developers will be responsible for the cost to extend service from the city-installed connection to their individual lots, the director said. An active developer on-site, Gorman, is building residential units and wants service installed before winter construction constraints take effect, making the item time-sensitive. “This is kind of time sensitive, because they do want to install this service yet this year before we get hit with winter fees,” the Parks Director said.
Alder Eck moved approval; a committee member seconded and the motion carried with no recorded opposition. The director said the item had been reviewed with the finance director, and the committee agreed it was appropriate to consider the matter at the parks committee because the installation also serves the park.
The committee's approval is a recommendation to the Common Council for final action.
