The Green Bay Parks Committee on Oct. 1 voted to recommend that the Common Council approve buying a forestry truck body and hoist from Casper's Truck Equipment for $47,137, a parks official said.
Parks Director said the city bonded $182,700 in 2025 to buy the truck. The chassis was purchased earlier this year for $96,767 and is already at the city's parts shop; the committee approved purchasing the rear body and hoist to complete the vehicle. The director said about $5,000 of additional items such as lighting and work equipment remain, bringing the total project cost to approximately $149,000 — “well below what we bonded for.”
The director said the city worked with the purchasing department to obtain the $47,137 quote from Casper's Truck Equipment and recommended approval. “So, this is definitely within budget and I would recommend approval,” the Parks Director said.
Committee members voted in favor of the recommendation; the committee's approval is a recommendation to the Common Council, which will consider final approval. During the meeting a committee member said the next Common Council meeting was Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m., and another member later corrected the date to Oct. 16.
The purchase was presented as a completion of a previously bonded acquisition rather than a new appropriation. No legal or statutory citations were offered during the discussion.
The committee approved the item without recorded opposition; the Parks Department will forward the recommendation to the Common Council for final action.
