Wilson County Social Services honored with NACO award for quality-assurance initiative

Wilson County Department of Social Services received a National Association of Counties (NACo) award for its Quality Assurance Network initiative, the department’s director told the Board of Commissioners on Oct. 6.
Director Kimberly Irvin said the award recognizes county collaboration to improve error rates across participating social-services program areas. She said the initiative created a network for counties to exchange strategies, receive training and strengthen oversight without requiring new funding. The state also recognized the initiative for sharing best practices that produced measurable reductions in errors among participating counties.
Irvin introduced Horsha Pulley, the program administrator for the quality-assurance team, and recognized members of the team. The board joined in thanking staff and paused for a photograph.
No formal vote was required; the board commended staff for the award.
