The board then approved requests from Sheriff Calvin Woodard to award retired officers their badges and service weapons upon retirement: Lieutenant Mitch Bass and Corporal Brian Whaley, each listed with 30 years of service and effective Oct. 1, 2025. The board voted to grant those requests by voice vote.
The board adopted a proclamation designating October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Wilson County. The proclamation noted local screening and case estimates presented by the county’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program and was approved by unanimous voice vote.
