The board unanimously approved the superintendent’s recommendation to appoint Devon Bivens as assistant principal at Morrow Mill High School. The motion was made by Mark Christmas and seconded by Mary Baker; the transcript records the vote as unanimous.
On the North Clayton High School final GMP, Doctor Jesse Goree moved to accept the final GMP; Mark Christmas seconded. The motion passed but Board Member Sabrina Hill abstained. Hill later explained she pulled the item and abstained because of concerns about cost per student, saying she believed the project cost difference was “a $143,000,000 for us to do North Clayton when we have approximately 1,000 students” and asked for more information about the cost and student counts. The transcript does not record a roll-call of each member’s yes votes beyond the recorded abstention.
The board adopted Policy Series M with no changes; the motion was seconded by Doctor Jesse Goree and the vote was unanimous. Policy Series G was postponed to the next work session after some members said they had outstanding questions and scheduling conflicts prevented the required meeting between a board member and the superintendent.
