Clayton County Board honors magnet, Title I reward and distinguished schools

The Clayton County Board of Education recognized several district schools Thursday for statewide and national honors, congratulating campus leaders and staff for student achievement and program excellence.

Board members honored Morrow Middle Dual Language Magnet School after Magnet Schools of America named it a nationally certified magnet at the demonstration level, the organization’s highest recognition. The board said the designation reflected “collective dedication, professionalism, and hard work” and that the campus “will serve as a learning model for magnets across the country.” Christopher Robinson, principal of Morrow Middle School, and his team were invited to the front of the auditorium for the recognition.

The board also recognized Callaway Elementary and Fountain Elementary for earning the Georgia Department of Education’s Title I reward school designation, given to Title I campuses in the top 5% statewide for progress improving English language arts and mathematics for all student subgroups over two years of assessment data. The board noted there are 69 Title I reward schools across the state and that the district has two on that list.

Elite Scholars Academy and the Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts were recognized as Title I distinguished schools, a list of the top 5% of Title I campuses statewide for overall performance based on combined English language arts and math content mastery scores for 2024. The board said only 82 schools statewide received that distinction. During remarks the board noted Elite Scholars’ sustained performance, saying the campus has “outperformed the state every single year” for the past eight years and that the two recognized schools also outperformed national averages in recent years.
