The Tangipahoa Parish School System Board voted to approve renewal of the district’s 2026 supplemental gap insurance plan for employees, moving coverage to Globe Life Insurance after soliciting multiple quotes.
District staff described the supplemental policy as coverage that “tags on” to the Pelican HRA health plan and helps pay employees’ out-of-pocket medical expenses. Staff said the district solicited competitive quotes from four or five carriers and Globe Life offered rates closest to current pricing; the only notable premium difference cited was roughly $4 per month for single coverage in one plan tier.
The district indicated enrollment will continue largely as before: coverage will roll over automatically for current participants unless an employee actively opts out or chooses a different health plan.
On an agenda motion moved by Mr. Piazza and seconded by Miss Dominguez, the board voted by roll call to approve the renewal. The motion passed with all members voting yes.
