Chief Correa said the department responded to about six calls since the last meeting, including grass fires, a motor‑vehicle crash at the Cobblestone and a small airplane crash into a hayfield just north of the airport. Correa said the pilot survived and received medical treatment; he described the incident as involving a field adjacent to airport property and praised responders for the rescue and medical assistance. Councilmembers commended the quick action of emergency responders and noted local media coverage of the incident.
Chief Correa also described ongoing fire prevention‑week activities: department staff visited Lincoln Elementary and planned additional school outreach in Valley Christian, Diversified Services and TLC. The chief said education with younger children remains a department priority during Fire Prevention Month.
No council action was required; the chief’s comments were received as a routine public safety update.
