Signia hotel topping off, convention center expansion and Elanco headquarters reshape downtown Indianapolis

City of Indianapolis neighborhood advocate Sydney Starks reported on major downtown projects during the Tuesday '10 episode, noting that cranes and new construction are reshaping the skyline. On Oct. 3 the construction team marked a topping-off ceremony for the Signia by Hilton hotel attached to the Indiana Convention Center; the hotel reached its 38th floor, making it the tallest hotel in Indianapolis, Starks said.
Starks said the convention center expansion and the Signia hotel are not expected to open until 2026. She also reported that on Oct. 1 Elanco, the animal health company, opened its new Indianapolis headquarters on the western bank of the White River. The facility now anchors a fledgling 1 Health Innovation District, Starks said, and a new Henry Street connection is planned to tie the district to downtown.
The segment framed the projects as part of a broader downtown transformation that includes new office and hospitality space as well as riverfront development. Starks encouraged residents to visit downtown to observe the changes.
