Commissioner Pitch thanked the chair and other commissioners for leading the proposal and praised Amelia, the Revere City Hall grant writer, for assistance in preparing the applications. "We hope that we'll get funded, and the goal is to really celebrating the community, listen to the stories," Commissioner Pitch said.
Chair Hussaini said the local grant was written with a looser level of detail based on prior local applicants' examples, while the Mass Cultural Council proposal has been broken down more specifically by line item: vendors, speakers, and marketing (flyers and social media). "For the bigger one I have already broken it down even more...so they know exactly what each penny is going to," Chair Hussaini said.
Commissioners agreed to share the draft budgets and spreadsheets among the commission before submission and to discuss collaborative funding with other commissions later in the meeting. The commission did not report award amounts or the Mass Cultural Council application deadline during the meeting; those details were described as "not specified."
The commission plans to pursue both grant tracks to maximize available funding and support events during the fiscal year; staff and commissioners asked for continued collaboration and transparency in finalizing the proposals.
