The Farr West planning commission reported it had not held a meeting due to a lack of agenda items but told the council it is working on a general plan update and will provide a timeline when available. Councilmembers directed a review and update of the annexation plan to reflect areas already annexed over the past 15 years.
City staff and council members said they submitted letters of intent to the Wasatch Front Regional Council for several potential projects, including a second phase of 3300 North, a pedestrian path along the east side of 2000 North with a mid-block flashing beacon, and crossing improvements at 2700 North that would realign lanes, add a protected median, and improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Those grant programs operate on a multi-year cycle; awards, if received, would be scheduled in future years.
Councilmembers reported local recreation and emergency-preparedness activities: the city participated in a well-attended regional fire-department open house and reengaged its CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) efforts. Staff said they had to resubmit the city's FEMA pre-mitigation plan after county staff could not locate the original submission; Farr West met its submission deadline and resubmitted with a few updates.
Parks updates included plans to open a disc-golf course in time for the city's trunk-or-treat event and a proposed grand opening or ribbon-cutting timed with that event. City staff said they had notified nearby residents and adjusted the course layout to reduce the chance of discs entering backyards. Councilmembers also said they would pursue Land and Water Conservation Fund support for Meadows Park improvements.
Other items noted: follow-ups on well testing for the Buona Vista/Quick Trip development north of Smith & Edwards and vandalism reported at the hot-springs tank construction site. Councilmembers said they would report further after regional conferences and committee meetings.
