The Farr West City Council approved a requested annual increase for EconoWaste service tied to the consumer price index and a fuel charge.
Councilmembers raised questions about the CPI source EconoWaste used; one councilmember cited 3.5% from a federal source while another noted seeing 3.2% depending on the index used. The change was described in meeting remarks as “only pennies” and the effect on the average household monthly fee was estimated by a councilmember in the meeting at about $0.17 per month.
The council approved the increase by voice vote with no opposing votes recorded. Staff said they would update billing to reflect the increased contract amount and notify customers per contract terms.
