City staff presented a first-quarter update on Lake Forest’s strategic plan on Oct. 7, noting progress in multiple initiatives adopted June 3, 2025.
Assistant to the city manager Nydia Ruelas said the city is tracking 60 initiatives in the plan. After the first quarter (starting July 1), staff reported 22 initiatives with substantial progress, 14 started and 24 not yet started. Ruelas highlighted three items under Goal A (a livable, well-planned and safe city): initiative 16 (citywide branding implementation), initiative 21 (community preservation program) and initiative 22 (veterans brick program).
Staff reported branding work is underway with street-banner design and implementation proposed for early 2026 and that implementation options were shared with the audit committee. The community preservation program had reached substantial progress with a pilot volunteer project completed; staff plan follow-up events. The veterans brick program will begin an inaugural phase with commemorative bricks to be unveiled around Veterans Day.
No formal council action was required on the quarterly report.
