Resident urges sidewalks and speed enforcement on Evans Lane near Mountain View Corridor intersection

A Saratoga Springs resident, Carly Bradford, addressed the council during the Oct. 7 public‑input period to request safety improvements on Evans Lane, a residential stretch that connects past the Mountain View Corridor.
Bradford said drivers now use the newly completed intersection and that children who walk to Thunder Ridge Elementary, Lakeview Academy and Vista Heights Middle School lack sidewalks and are forced to share narrow road edges with cars traveling faster than the posted residential 25 mph limit.
"As a driver, it has been a dream," Bradford said of the improved intersection. "However, as a pedestrian, it has become a lot more precarious with the changes and increased traffic....There's no sidewalk for them to travel safely to school." Bradford asked the council to investigate options to improve safety and to consider speed signage or other measures.
Council response and staff follow up
The mayor directed staff to take notes and look into the request. Councilman Macomber and other council members said school busing and the school district’s safe‑walking routes may be relevant and encouraged the resident to contact the Alpine School District while staff looks into engineering and signage options. City staff said they would follow up with the resident.
