The Broadwater County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a mission statement and scope of work for the county Board of Health, formalizing five priority areas and directing staff to document the approval on letterhead with signatures and the approval date.
Chairing the item, the commission said the Board of Health will “promote and protect public health and environmental quality in Broadwater County through education, community partnerships, collaboration, and policies,” language commissioners reported had been approved by the Board of Health the prior month.
Commissioners narrowed the scope to five topics the board will use to guide strategic planning: public health policy development; health education and promotion; disease prevention and control; environmental health; and emergency preparedness. Commissioner Debbie recommended placing the approved statement on county letterhead and including the date and signatures so the action is archived clearly.
There was no public comment on the item. A motion to approve the mission statement and scope of work was moved and seconded; the chair called the ayes and announced the motion passed.
Commissioners said a separate strategic plan with more detailed actions will be developed later for each of the five scope topics and that the Board of Health will work through staff and the sanitarian on implementation details.
