Arlington County Board appoints Maureen Coffey acting chair during chair’s absence

“I then, want to, move, to appoint my colleague Maureen Coffey as acting board chair during the temporary absence of myself, Chair Carantones, from 12 noon on Friday, 10/03/2025, to 12, in the morning, on Sunday, 10/12/2025,” Chair Carantones said during the meeting.
After the motion was seconded, Carantones thanked Coffey and colleagues for agreeing to serve, saying she was “very grateful that Maureen steps up and wants to take, to, to take the responsibility for 1, for 1 week.” The board then took a voice vote; the motion carried 4 to 0 with Vice Chair DeFerrandi absent.
A member restated the purpose of the action for the record, saying the appointment was to cover the period of Chair Carantones’s absence while she attends the sister-city trip overseas and while Vice Chair DeFerrandi is on paternity leave. With no further business, the board adjourned.
