The Perris Planning Commission appointed two primary members and an alternate to its ad hoc committee on Oct. 1 to assist with early-stage project review.
Commissioners voted 5-0 to appoint Commissioner Lopez and Commissioner Jimenez as the ad hoc committee’s primary members and Vice Chair Shively as the alternate. Chair Jo Hammond said the ad hoc panel is intended to screen applications and help resolve issues prior to full commission hearings, and the commission discussed expectations for attendance and consistency.
Planning Manager Patricia described a draft checklist the commission requested to standardize reviews and noted ad hoc meetings are convened as needed. Commissioners who volunteered said they valued the role and emphasized the need to avoid Brown Act violations and to maintain continuity so that the same pair reviews subsequent project rounds when feasible.
Commissioners were reminded that the ad hoc committee is a significant time commitment and that staff will provide meeting materials and the draft checklist to support consistent, public-facing notes and comments from ad hoc meetings.
