A representative of the Kingsburg Chamber of Commerce told the Downtown BID advisory board on Oct. 7 that Chamber director Barbara will retire at the end of the month and that Lauren Nickel will begin as the Chamber’s new full-time director the following day.
At the start of the meeting, the speaker identified himself as Reggie of the Chamber and said, "Barbara is officially retiring at the end of this month. And the 30 first will be our last day after, 10 plus years of pretty much doing everything down there, role wise, throughout that." He added that the new director, Lauren Nickel, would begin work the day after his announcement and that she brings experience from the Fresno County Economic Development Commission.
The comment came during the meeting’s public-comment period; no board action was associated with the announcement. The Chamber representative noted Nickel’s resources and experience as a positive asset for future downtown and BID collaboration.
